I am using Windows 10 and notice the following things when using file explorer:1. When I place the cursor over the documents folder, it shows the size as9.09 GB instead of the6.63 GB as shown in theproperties box when I right click on the documents folder.2. Also, when I open the documents folder, select all the sub-folders and files, then right-click/properties, I get8.60 GB - instead of the6.63 GB OR9.09 GB (referred to in item #1 above).W Why aren't these numbers consistent?vvAls.
I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.1) Reset Windows Explorer: Right click Start button to open Task Manager, show More Details, then choose Processes tab, scroll down to Windows Processes, then further down to Windows Explorer. Right click to Restart, click OK. Restart PC.2) Go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done:Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install mostthoroughly.3) If nothing else helps you can run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows in about an hour while saving your files, apps and most settings, solves many problems while also bringingit up to the latest version 1809 which you need anyway and by the most stable method.I hope this helps.

I will walk you through any steps and will not let you fail. Hi AlsWindows 10 version 1803 introduced a bug into Explorer.exe.It cannot read the metadata of files correctly, as a result it cannot correctly calculate the size of a folder with sub-folders and also cannot correctly calculate the correct free space on a hard driveMicrosoft are aware of this and other bugs introduced in that update and are working on a patchIn the meantime, to get a correct reading on folder size, click the link below to download a small free utility called Treesize. Using that tool, you will instantly see where your space is being usedStandard Disclaimer: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information.
